My Love Affair With Expression Engine
I’ve been an avid supporter of Expression Engine for quite some time now, but lately have come to realize its true potential, and its simple approach to achieving that potential.
Expression Engine takes the CRUD philosophy and truly keeps that concept fundamental, while giving you the flexibility you desire — no, require — as a designer/developer. I’ve been working on a fairly extensive project lately for my work and have come to realize how well the folks over at EllisLab have mastered that balance between flexibility and efficiency.
On a side note, from the demo’s that I’ve seen, version 2.0 that is (hopefully) due sometime in 2009 will be even better.
Anyway, I am so fervently passionate about this product that I’m going to spend some time developing a nice Weblog theme that I intend to enter into the Theme Forest’s New Years contest, but also giving extensive commentary on the process of creating and publishing an Expression Engine theme since I could not find much about it with my limited Google searches.
What I plan on doing is spending the month of January developing this theme (I’ve already got some concepts started), and documenting the process as I go through it. The end product will be the design for my new blog — I’m already getting tired of WordPress — and a great series of articles about publishing Expression Engine themes.
Look forward to the first post series - I will be publishing them starting sometime around the first of the year.

Alright, well here I am well over a year since my last post to any blog titled with my name, and I’m not sure what to do. But, whatever it may be that I find out I’m going to do, I’m going to do it right this time!
